Papalala Za Ongwala (the wings of the Eagle)

All of the proceeds from the sale of Shirley's paintings go to the Eagle Wings Christian Family. Eagle Wings is Chiomba Nkhanga  in Chchewa.  Eagle Wings is made up of a very small group of Christians, who support five local Malawian missionaries and their families in their work. Eagle Wings is not a charity organisation, instead it aims to help Malawians to become self sufficient. https://www.facebook.com/wingsofmalawi/

Written by Pastor Steven How he was recruited to EWM

Pastors Steven testimonyhow he joined Eagle Wings.

To begin with it is me as human who even today I confess my human weakness for indeed I really had not understood God's small begins.

I did not expect Eagle Wings to carry us to this point. To our human frail weakness i failedto understand God's plans and choice of people to use I did not expect this mission to do greater things.

At first we received Twenty thousand

It was a monthly cheque -

For me it was like madness to quit a government post to resign and go to pursue a theological course a thing which many people laughed and called me all sorts of names and said my children would pick food from hospital bins to eat.

The other amazing thing is how Julius got me.When Julius started phoning about his intention to visit my house in Mzuzu from Blantyre I started resisting him not to come because I and my wife had no sugar and bread to welcome him.

( in Malawi you are obliged to offer food and tea)

He kept phoning.

my wife who was not keen

As she was embarrassed by us having no food and tea.

One

Sunday morning

he arrived in Mzuzu and informed us he was in town .

Preach at one of the Baptist churches

At our house we had no breakfast but proceeded to church where I gave him to preach and he did but was hungry and tired .

We together went home and spent two days with us .

So God used Julius to travel to me to be part of this mission.May God bless him ,he is such a humble and godly determined to do that which God wants him to do.

In short I confess I must not despise little begins especially Godly programmes which He can start from any point and using anyone whom He devinely chooses.

Later we meet Our dear Coworker in Christ pastor Ed Marshall from Australia.

I started respecting Gods call while still struggling to understand where God was leading us to.

With Ed together with our wives it was very memorable fellowship

Ed taught us many things- I got my first bicycle from this mission.

Ed tried to teach us to swim also we travel by engine boat far into the lake.

It was myself,Julius, and late brother Hassan with our wives. We were encouraged to start a bigger wider evangelism in our respective places.

Our First Lake visit an experience in life we never expected.

We had no reliable phones this time to send reports but used to travel to internet cafes It was not long before Shirley advised me to pray and find someone else to be part of this team-

God showed me Kennedy Banda who was my student at a Bible school who lived miles from me and who also had problems in understanding about this.He lived and ministers for God but without support from church just as I had.

Many churches in the Baptist Convention don't support pastors because they are too

Poor.

God prepared Eagle Wings just months after my quitting from government and started ministering at a poor grass thatched church at sonda walking five kilometers to and from.

At this church is where I converted the first four members as Faiwel Mhone, his wife Teleza and their son in law Etta.Mhone confessed he had cheated people by giving them charms for business of witchcraft After coversion Teleza said they lived with peace and never fought as before as her husband was also not faithful in marriage

As Eagle Wings grew and relief money to buy maize-

When Shirley and Judy visited Malawi in 2017 this grass thatch church had grown to a good number of members because I could now use bicycle to reach more lost souls and I baptised more members at this church than elsewhere.

When I moved to Chitipa in 2017 Eagle Wings helped me to minister to another grass thatch small church

Eagle Wings helped cross international borders into Tanzania minister to swahir speakers through an interpreter.

Also In Zambia -

At a Tanzania church Shirley and Judy gave bibles to that church and there I led two prominent village chiefs to Christ in addition to others notably believers I trained to lead that church

I had opportunity to preach to inmates at Chitipa prison cells where I won prisoners to Faith

If I was to write everything Eagle Wings has done I would not be off road to say this mission led by our sisters in Christ has raised us from zero to where we can use motor bikes and our messages are heard because we can give them a testimony that cannot be comprehended.

Eagle Wings has arranged several reunions for us from North to South and through these reunions we have shared our experiences and challenges to help one another cope with those challenges

Eagle Wings has not only supported us alone but also bought food share to the needy in our churches / the first beneficially was a beautiful experience of giving with joy.

Eagle Wings has helped me plant a church in Tanzania and Zambia a thing that would not happened

2024 a motorcycle extremely grateful .

Eagle Wings Baptist Church is so unique for people get encouraged and hold on to the biblical teaching.

Also solar panels and speakers. Written by Pastor steven

Malawi Eagle Wings The Work of Our Lord Jesus, all Glory to Our God.2025

Eagle Wings Malawi. (EW - supporting Baptist Pastors) 2025 report

The Pastors and Veronica were grateful for Westside’s support and the gift of the three portable PA’s.  Ps Julius is using his PA to preach amongst the Mozambique refugees in his area.       Ps Steven rides his bike with the PA on the back, very slowly and he stops to speak with the people whenever there is an opportunity.

Pastor Julius:   Prison ministry.   Esinat released three weeks ago.  She went back to prison last week to preach and is a new Born again so her message to  Prisoners was so powerful - lady in middle

My program are as follows on 14th February we will have all night of prayer;  on 22nd February fasting and prayer and on 2nd March open air preaching

all to reach both Malawian and Mozambique refugees

Shirley indicated that as reported in the January Prayer Notes,  Julius was able to give food to 200 people due to the funding received from Australia.

Pastors Stephen and Kestina:  One of my prison converts in 2022 has passed on. He was a dedicated member after his release in October 2022.    I took his funeral. Recently

Seven EW church baptisms on Sunday.

Four new members one of whom belonged to Zion church

One woman belonged to Christ Pentecostal church which pays (money) for regular church attendance.  Eagle Wings Church is so unique for people get encouraged and hold on to the Biblical teaching.

Also a non-believer died and I was requested to preach on that funeral and that was to my advantage to preach to chiefs and counsellors who received the message different from a fake message.

Kestina and I visited patients at hospital.

Kestina is sharing  with two ladies she encounter on the road.

Today Sunday I preached to twenty members at my church EW Baptist and went to the river baptizing two. See photo.

Thank you for your prayers.  Eagle Wings Church grows steadily.  Pray God gives us Bibles both to church and community Bible study.

June 2025 Wonderful happenings with EWM Many souls saved.

Pastor Kestina. Testimony’

I greet you in the name of Jesus Christ. My short testimony how I came to know Jesus Christ as my lord.

When I was four year my parents sent me to live with my grandmum whom taught me to pray .

Sometimes she showed me trees saying they are God's creation.

At eight years I started singing in a junior choir and proved a good leader. At ten years I knew many friends some of whom led me astray

It was at fourteen year I had a dream which showed me a woman dressed in purple skirt and a white blouse.I ignored

I had then a second dream that showed me preaching to multitudes but I wanted to become a nurse. Once a Presbyterian Rev came to see me and my grandmum but I went to hide. until he left.

At sixteen years I started having a bad headache. Against my grandma’s wishes my parents took me to a witch doctor.

but I got worse. I failed my school exams., because of headache.

When I got married just in three months that dream of purple skirt and white blouse came again but I did not tell my husband Pastor Steven.

Then two years after marrying God revealed to me to work for Him.When the third dream came about preaching I started going with my husband to open air rallies where one day a very small woman was preaching about man's sins and the need to repent and accept Christ as the only saviour through faith. She asked the sick to go Infront to be prayed a thing I did quickly she never touched me but she turned her eyes straight to me for almost two minutes I was healed.Later I was daily compelled to go to door to door exangelism with my husband and this spirit grows in me daily .I thank Eagle Wings to come in to help me and my husband fulfil the role of a preacher to work side by side with Steven Some of my already started tasks are Bible study groups, teaching married women on successful marriages, and knitting for newborns

I pray and Thank God for you my fellow women and men of God for you are a gift to me.

( interestingly the Baptist woman’s uniform is white blouse and purple head dress and Skirt) now am a pastor. I’m preaching to many women.

We will be supporting Pastor Kestina with her vital woman’s ministry work/

In future Pastor Kestina will do her own reporting on Woman ministry .

The change will be end of May 2025 .

As she is needed. Due to malawi culture the are strict rules of single woman being allowed- with say Pastor Steven in eg Bible study.

Like most Baptist Churches Pastor

Kestina is called upon to preach say on Mother’s Day. As well as many other occasions.

ATM Eagle Wings Baptist Church has far more woman than men.

She runs

Several Bible study groups.

Also it’s not good for Pastor Steven to visit a female in hospital or prison. That’s when Kestina steps in.

Actually she does an amazing amount of work.

Pastor steven and pastor kestina

,The report is for April  up to June which includes the visitation of villages south west of our church

which is of course not easy no Rd but just walking up and down the two hilly villages.

People like this place because soil is good

There are only two notable churches .Catholic and one small Presbyterian.

We won two new believers who have been baptised on Easter .During the two Easter days

I performed the Lord's Supper with new believers.

Before the event we fasted and prayed for the event both to me and my fellow Eagle Wings Pastors.I .Thank you for prayers for us and as we pray for you.

bhere is Pastor Steven and Pastor Kestina / Kestina sews beautiful clothes and she made her dress matching Stevens shirt.

Steven reading from Matt Ch 3 When Jesus was baptised IThe first two converts being baptised are my members

May/June 2025 Pastor Kennedy

Pastor Kennedy was invited by one of the Bishop from another Church, to go and share his experience and insights about prayer.

Those people have been inspired with his life and how God has transformed him.

They wanted to learn from him particularly in the area of prayer, they have seen the positive impact it's had on Pastor Kennedy's life,

so they are interested in learning how to depend their own prayer life.

Pastor Kennedy gave example of motorbike  he had prayed because after a stoke he was unable to walk far.

Also at one point he distributed the maize which was a blessing after praying for the hungry.

๐Ÿ‘Žpastor Kennedy is wearing the yellow motorcycle jacket. . He has reached many villages that are far away and near the Zambia border.

Veronica Mughogho reporting June 2025

EWM

made a significant impact in advancing the Gospel and improving lives spiritually, socially, and economically. Our dedicated pastoral team—Pastor Julius, Pastor Charles, Pastor Kennedy, Pastor Steven and our newly added Pastor Kestina—have worked faithfully in their calling to serve their communities.

Pastor Kestina has added great value by equipping women in the church with practical skills such as sewing, helping them become more self-reliant and able to support their families. Bible study, visiting woman in Hospitals  and prisons.

Transportation: Purchased motorbikes for pastors who previously lacked reliable means to reach remote areas with the Gospel.

Feeding the Hungry: Provided food support to vulnerable individuals and families. Feeding the hungry is a ministry in itself—one our Heavenly Father has commanded us to fulfill with love and compassion.

Support for Evangelism: Enabled pastors to travel and preach in various communities, sharing the Gospel and winning souls.

Pastors' Reunion: Hosted a pastors’ reunion, encouraging sharing of experiences, learning, and fellowship.

Farming Support: Supported pastors with farming tools and resources. This is crucial because our pastors have large families and responsibilities, and often help feed church members who are in need. Farming strengthens their ability to serve both spiritually and physically.

Ministry Equipment: Supplied sound equipment (speakers) to help pastors reach larger audiences more effectively.

Agricultural Seminar: Sponsored pastors to attend an agriculture seminar to gain skills they can pass on to church members for sustainable food production.

Bible Audio Devices: Bible audio devices have been purchased and are currently on their way to Malawi. These devices will support church members who cannot read by allowing them to hear and understand God’s Word. In Their pwn languages .

Support for Orphans: Continued support for the children of the late Pastor Hassan—Hassan, Trinity, and Hannah—covering basic needs and education. Also Adopted orphans- onto the pastors families . Charity and Emily -

As the Malawi Coordinator for Eagle Wings Ministry, my responsibility is to ensure all ministry operations run smoothly and effectively. This includes:

Coordinating all pastoral work and ensuring our pastors are well cared for to focus fully on ministry.

Depositing monthly wages and staying in contact with pastors through regular calls.

Organizing the delivery and distribution of ministry supplies (e.g., Bible audio devices) to ensure they reach all pastors, even when I cannot deliver them physically due to distance.

Translating Pastor Kennedy’s reports into English, since he does not speak English, to maintain clear communication with the Australian coordinator.

Praying with and supporting our pastors spiritually to build unity and strength in the

We also thank God for His faithfulness and the continued support from Eagle Wings Ministry Partners & Donors. The work being done is bearing fruit in lives changed and communities strengthened for the glory of God.

Respectfully submitted,

Veronica Mughogho

Malawi Coordinator, Eagle
