About the Artist
Award-winning artist Shirley Charlton was born in Malawi, Central
Africa. She studied at Commercial Art College - and holds a Diploma
in Fine Arts from London.
Shirley studied under Ian Simpson in Britain. She also holds a Diploma
with the Paris School of Arts. She immigrated to Australia in 1992
as an international fine artist.
Her paintings have sold extensively in Australia and overseas.
With a number of exhibitions behind her, painting has become full
time. Living in Brisbane, Queensland, she works in all mediums but
has a special fondness for watercolours and pastels. Her paintings
reflect her love for the sea and nature and her skill in figure
painting.
Allowing the watercolours to flow together on the paper and painting
exclusively from life have made her paintings spontaneous and unique
and her original watercolours and pastels are in great demand.
As well as being a talented artist/tutor, her gift for teaching
has led to several pupils exhibiting their own work. |
